The makers and their dream

When we bought our first house ten years ago, we were both excited about the idea of having projects to do around the house; we wanted a house that we could put our personal touch on. Our first project was a kitchen console table. We were so thrilled with the process and results, we knew we were on to something. We had big dreams of making furniture and growing a business. We came up with a name and a logo, talked about what kinds of products we’d sell, and even acquired several tools for it all.

We made a couple of coffee tables and coat racks, and then life happened. After job loss, selling our house, and briefly moving states, our dream was put on a long hold. When we finally returned to Oregon and purchased another home, we knew a big garage was a must-have. Our extra-deep 2 car garage is now largely consumed by our make-shift woodworking shop. It feels good to get our tools back out and get our hands (and clothes) dusty again.

We, Blake and Kara, have been married for over 10 years now and have two energetic kids. We have long claimed our family values include being silly, creative, and together. Both of us have lived in Oregon all or most of our lives. We currently live in and love wine country in the Willamette Valley. We love our community and the culture of creativity found here.

Initially, Blake did most of the heavy lifting. It wasn’t until 2020, thanks COVID, that Kara really got involved with the tools and developed this new passion. Having always been drawn to cutting boards and the natural beauty of different woods, these are our favorite pieces to make. Blake’s analytical mind enjoys occasional bigger projects, like gaming tables, which require more precise measurements and planning. Both of us are creative at our core. Playing with different designs and different woods and grains brings us so much joy. Our dream has morphed a bit over the years; our focus has shifted from being more about profit to simply doing something we love. Thanks for joining us on this journey and allowing us to do what we love.
